Monday Inspiration Infusion #13 Crafts

I am a crafter and as a crafter some of the things that inspire me most are things crafted by other crafters. For instance, I love this rainbow quilt! It is fun and colorful and you can't help feeling more cheerful just seeing it :)

World Map AAQI Quilt IC#23

This week's Iron Craft challenge was to craft something inspired by maps and I figured why not do a two-for and make a map art quilt for the AAQI? So I whipped up a map graphic, printed it out on iron-transfer paper, and ironed it onto a piece of plain white cotton. Then I picked my backing fabric, a jaunty tan plaid, and my trim and sewed it all together. Easy peasy. Now I just need to register it and send it off to the good folks at AAQI!

Doggy B-day!

Yesterday was Doggy Birthday! Basil, our little old man, turned 9 and Pie, our sweet baby girl, turned 8 :) This year for their birthday I made them crinkle toys, basically a fabric sleeve you put a plastic water bottle in so they can crunch away at it and enjoy the noise without hurting their gums. Unfortunately they figured out how to get the bottles out pretty fast (smart little buggers), but we replaced the bottles with their rubber bones and that entertainment lasted longer and they seemed pleased with the challenge. I guess the crinkle toys can double as bone purses too :)

Missed Opportunity - Iron Craft 13 - Best in Show

Last week I was out of town, so I missed Iron Craft challenge #13, Best in Show, which was about making something special for the fuzzy critters who warm our lives. I have two adorable dogs that I love very much and whom I love making things for, so I was a bit sad to miss this challenge. However, since I love my puppies and I love showing them off I'm still going to torment everyone by showing a picture of them in something that I made for them. My pretty baby girl, Pie, is the black one and she is sporting her pink and white houndstooth coat with a white faux fur collar. My super sweet little boy, Basil, is the brown one in his orange fleece scarf with a bone shaped felt appliqué topped off with a heart button. This was a couple of x-mases ago, so they were excited from opening their presents (which we always let them do themselves because it is hilarious to watch and they really enjoy shredding the wrapping paper) and were busily sniffing each other's new clothes. Their birthday is next month, so hopefully I'll get to show them off again soon in something new :)
